About the Imprint

Le Chambon Press is a private imprint. It’s named in honor of the town, Le Chambon, in the south of France.

During World War Two, the residents of this small Protestant village worked together at great risk to save thousands of Jewish children and adults from the Nazis.

The full, extraordinary story is told in Philip Hallie’s important book, Lest Innocent Blood Be Shed: The Story of the Village of Le Chambon and How Goodness Happened There.

The imprint’s logo, created by artist Mary Scotti, incorporates the gladiolus—a flower which symbolizes courage.
